Homes delight and inspire

The 12th annual Reading House Tour, sponsored by the
Friends of the Reading Public Library was a voyeur's
dream. Who wouldn't love a chance to peek inside some
of the neighborhood's most interesting homes, picking
up some nifty decorating tips along the way?
Twelve homes were showcased this year, all highlighting
the work of "do-it-yourselfers," as well as
that of professional designers.
Highlights of the tour included a dramatic Center Entrance
Colonial at 40 Zachary Lane, built in 1998, which featured
cathedral ceilings and large first floor windows. A
whimsical mural by Reading designer Melanie Murphy,
featuring a Victorian scene of children playing at the
beach, added a charming touch to the children's bathroom.
