    Decorating Tip
    Thanksgiving

    Thanksgiving Table Setting

When planning your Thanksgiving table, decide what look you prefer. A classic style will use traditional elements, while a modern table might focus on a harvest color scheme. With any style, consider these tips for your holiday table settings.

    • Bring in fall color with accent pieces such as napkins, place cards and flowers
    • Include one item that is specifically for Thanksgiving - mini cornucopias as place card holders or salad plate with a turkey image
    • Add an element of surprise to the table setting whether it is simply a square dinner plate or the unexpected use of a common item like tree bark used as chargers

Feng Shui Tip: Enhance Your Thanksgiving
    Feng Shui

You can use Feng Shui to enhance your Thanksgiving for guests even before they walk in the door. Make sure the path to your home and the entrance is well-lighted, open and inviting. This welcomes guests, as well as prosperity and abundance, into your home.

    Before Dinner

When offering a welcoming drink and snacks, create color balance in your display of food to enhance guests' appetites. Consider serving the beige or off-white foods in festive bowls, and arrange a colorful vegetable tray for a healthy option.

    During Dinner

Pay careful attention to the seating arrangement. A round table is best, but do not worry if your table is rectangular, just position it so everyone has enough space to sit. Try to avoid a buffet table or china cabinet with sharp corners pointing directly at guests? Corners create "poison arrows" known as Sha Chi or "killing energy." In the short term, these could make the person sitting in their path feel uncomfortable. You can drape live greenery across a sharp corner to lessen the negative energy.
